During the Second World War, the Ateliers Jean Prouvé were responsible for the design and implementation of various interior design projects for the chemical company Solvay. Table Flavigny, originally a conference table, is one of those designs. The first pieces were used in the Sanatorium of Flavigny, where the name also comes from.

Reintroduced by Vitra as an elegant dining table, Table Flavigny has an aesthetic charm resulting from the contrast between the homely solid wood tabletop and the strictly functional design of the base. What is typical of Prouvé's oeuvre are the four tapered legs, which are placed at an angle of 45° on the outer corners of the tabletop. This makes the steel frame more stable and gives the users maximum legroom.

The Table Flavigny is available in standard sizes of 240 x 90 cm with a tabletop of solid oiled wood from natural oak, dark smoked oak or American walnut. Other sizes can easily be produced on request. The base is finished with a smooth powder coating in deep black. The ends of the table legs are made of solid, polished aluminium that protects against dirt and wear and tear. The gliders can be adjusted up to 10 mm to compensate for unevenness in the floor.
