Fritz Hansen Series 7 is 60 years old

More than any other designer, Arne Jacobsen was a pioneer of the concept of Scandinavian simplicity.

The stackable Series 7TM chair (butterfly chair) gave Arne Jacobsen and Republic of Fritz Hansen a prominent place in design history. In 2015, the Series 7TM chair celebrates its 60th anniversary, which is why Fritz Hansen is releasing 2 special editions of the butterfly chair, only available in 2015.

A colourful celebration

60 years after its launch, the 7 series chair is livelier than ever. The only thing Fritz Hansen has added to celebrate the anniversary are new colours. Inspired by the original colour palette designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1968, 2 anniversary models have now been created in special colours. The 2 editions of the Series 7 chair celebrate the diversity of contexts in which Arne Jacobsen's iconic chair has played a role in the first 60 years of his existence - from MoMa in New York to Centre Bakery in Tokyo. A male version of which the shell is in a dark blue lacquer and the legs are covered with a dark powder coating. A female version in soft pink and the legs are covered with a 24 ct gold layer.

Strong together and separately

Side by side, they strengthen and complement each other. Both chairs also have it in them to be a powerful presence on their own and lift the space in question to a completely new level. The female chair can enhance a female setting or just be a fascinating contrast in a masculine context just as the masculine version can bring different qualities into different contexts.

About the Series 7 chair (butterfly chair)

The butterfly chair is by far the best-selling chair by Fritz Hansen and perhaps even in furniture history. The high-pressure veneer chair is a further development on the classic AntTM chair. The visionary Arne Jacobsen refined the lamination technique to perfection which resulted in a durable chair with perfect shape that is still contemporary.

In the production process of the Series 7 chair, everything is perfectly thought out, and no less check that 11 people leave the chair before it leaves the Fritz Hansen factory in Denmark.
